This rocks!

Get this- Dry Bones (the non-profit where I'm interning) is incredible! Their mission (see http://drybonesdenver.org/) is right in line with what I know is a huge piece of God's heart- His adoration of and brokeness for adolescents and people who are ignored and marginalized by society. The people at Dry Bones desire to build relationships with homeless youth and serve and love them in the way of Jesus. The moment I walked into their office, excitement was like bubbling out of my skin- that's the only way I know how to describe it:) Each of the six staff members and eight other interns are solid, real, passionate individuals who I look forward to getting to know and learn from. We are all in for an adventure!

Here are my thoughts today.....

-When I read the Gospels, I can't help but notice the type of people that Jesus spent time with and paid specific attention to- these are them! And he saw their real selves, their humanity.

-When I look at people, I want this- I want to see them for who they really are, not who society says they are. And I'm totally humbled by the fact that I, myself, don't have what it takes to see and to love people in the way that they deserve. I try, still, but run into my own judgments, or insecurity of what others might think, or frustration from not getting results, or a feeling of hopelessness. I am encouraged when I remember that I don't have to do this alone, and am grateful that Jesus's love, the real deal, is big enough for me and those I want to love. Pray for me, that I may see people the way the Lord does- see their humanity, beauty and worth- and have the courage to get to know their story.

Thanks for loving me!

Ciao.

Jenny
